Boasting Bengal: Robert Aird

Robert Aird has had an adventure-filled decade after leaving the hollowed halls of good ole BHS. After graduating he went on to work as a "Heavy Musical Instrument Relocation Specialist" (piano mover) for Summerhays music until leaving on an LDS mission to Mexico City in November of 1999.

Upon returning from Mexico, he started school at BYU where he studied Finance and Spanish. In Provo, he was able to keep up contact with many of his Bengal friends, principally by living with three of them. His college years were full of traveling, playing, dating, and studying. His first job back at school was as a "Sports Field Technician" whose job it was to prepare the BYU sporting fields for competition. Yes, he did paint the "Y" on the mountain in the Mountain West Conference symbol on the football field in 2003. He was later blessed enough to be hired on as a Teacher at the Missionary Training Center. He worked there for the remainder of his time in Provo, and while working in the referral center, he met his future wife, Katie Audette (also a teacher in the MTC). They were married in April of 2005 in SLC.

Rob was recruited out of school by a Southern California hedge fund. Upon arrival for his final interview in Beverly Hills, who should he run into but fellow Bengal Josh (Yosh) Hansen. Robert and Katie moved to LA, where Rob took up the art of surfing. He says he isn’t that good but is willing to surf with anyone who would like to go. The Airds had their first son, Easton, in December of 2006.

In the summer of 2008 Rob was asked to move to Ireland to work in the new European office of the same fund. So, he packed up his wife and son and they moved to Dublin, Ireland. His surfing has dried up some since the relocation, but it is exciting having their own European Adventure. Rob is busy working and traveling around Europe. He and his wife are currently expecting their second son any day now. You can catch up with the Aird family on their blog. If any fellow Bengals are ever on the Emerald Isle, please drop Rob a line and he will be happy to show you around the greater Dublin area.
